100 rejection letters!

I'm going to call myself out right now.

So far, as we're 17 days into 2012, I haven't show up very fiercely. I've blogged fiercely. I've claimed that I want to be fierce, but really, I've been dragging my feet a little on the fierce.

I've been waiting to have the energy, the spark, the gumption to put things in motion.

Wow ~ waiting around sounds so fierce. aslkjdfsldkjhfzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

I just put myself to sleep. Waiting around is BORING!

Here's my new deal, and my new challenge, and my new public declaration: 2012 will be the year that I receive 100 rejection letters. 100 Rejections.

I *dare* you to tell me no, world!

What this means is that I have to start asking. I have to put myself out there. On this list of rejections, I hope to include: O Magazine, Real Simple, Whole Living, to name a few.

Right now, I can't even list out 100 places that could potentially reject me, which means that I'm going to have to get creative. I'm going to have to get uncomfortable. I'm going to have to stretch and grow and freaking try harder than I've ever tried before.

There's the fierce.

Rejection is the name of the game. All of this will be shared publicly with you ~ my process, my victories, my failures. All open, all raw, all real.

Anyone else want to join in on the fun with me? (It's okay if you say no...I'm down with rejection!)

This is a stupendous idea. I love it. I'm afraid you're going to have to work REALLY hard to get rejected that many times, though! I think some brainstorming is is order.

In other news, I miss your face like crazy! Waaaah! ♥

Thanks y'all! I appreciate the support!

And Kylie, you're right ~ I'm definitely going to have to stretch for my 100 rejections. I invite any and all ideas! (and one of the things I'm planning to pitch at some point is the book you and I are going to do together!) Oh, and my face misses YOU like crazy!

What serendipity! During meditation this morning you popped into my mind. I was thinking how much I admire your gumption. (Is gumption a word?) Then, I just stumbled across this post. I LOVE it. I want to be rejected 100 times — or more— too! I"m so sick of lying low and being afraid that someone won't like me. Bring it on! Thanks for being so damn great!

Sherry, gumption is most certainly a word!

gump·tion

1. initiative; aggressiveness; resourcefulness: With his gumption he'll make a success of himself.
2. courage; spunk; guts: It takes gumption to quit a high-paying job.
3. common sense; shrewdness.

I like the "courage; spunk" definition myself! And thank you for your support and sweet words!! Let's go get rejected!

Hi Tiffany! I wanted to let you know this post is still inspiring me. I wrote about it on my Red Room blog: http://redroom.com/member/loren-rhoads/blog/100-rejections.

How are your 100 Rejections coming?

April 30, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterLoren Rhoads

You are one fierce, confident + inspiring women. Way to go. I am all about embracing the life we are living now and not waiting for things to be perfect, till we are older, more knowledgeable or have our shit together, and I love how you run with that and grab the reins. Your concept has me totally inspired to do this project myself. A big big warm thank you. x

This is brilliant! If I tell myself I must be rejected 100 times, who knows who may say yes! Seriously this is the most inspiring bit of advice I have heard in some time!
