Someone left a comment on facebook the other day in response to my you are going to die post. Without getting into too many details, the comment was along these lines, "That's all well and good, but sometimes life gets in the way. There are bills to pay and kids to feed and sometimes, all you can do is just survive."
I say bullshit. And I say it loud.
I don't argue that life can be hard. Truth: it can. It can be unbelievably hard at times, breaking us down so much that we question how we will survive and how we can ever rebuild.
I don't argue that there are bills to pay and mouths to feed. Truth: there are. There are responsibilities that come along with the lives we live for ourselves, the lives we choose for ourselves.
Choose, you ask? Who said I chose this? This shitty, going nowhere, barely getting by life. I didn't choose this.
Again, I say bullshit.
Every single moment of our lives is lived in choice. If you haven't actively chosen things for yourself, you've put yourself into a position to have them chosen for you. Until you actually take control of things for yourself and start owning your choices (or the ability to choose!), they will continue to be made for you.
It's up to you to stop it. It's up to you to stop letting your own life get in the way of living.
YOU get to make the choice. Starting now.
