friday's confession: holiday edition
Santa freaks me out.
I know he's supposed to represent innocence and help bring out our inner children while filling the air with holiday joy and love. But I think he's a little scary.
- He's an old man who encourages young children to sit on his lap.
- He asks the children if they've been naughty or nice. Naughty? Really?
- He the invites said children to whisper in his ear what they want.
- "He sees you when you're sleeping. He knows when you're awake." 'Nuff said.
This is a fairly recent thing. When I was young, I dutifully had my photo taken with Santa every year, and nothing bad ever happened. But, I think that as I got older and started thinking more theoretically about Santa, the whole thing became dirty to me.
Mall Santas are the worst. Super creepy!
So, I wish I could say, happy holidays and that I hope Santa is good to you this year. But, I just can't.
But, here's what I can say:
Happy Holidays. I hope that your holiday is filled with warmth, love, and laughter. If you aren't able to be will all the ones you love, I hope they feel the love that is in your heart for them. For those of you that I'm not able to be with -- I'm sending you all the love that I have. You know who you are.
